GTA 6 frequently asked questions

Grand Theft Auto VI releases on Thursday, November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games lists this date on its official GTA VI page and reaffirmed it alongside the "An Extended Look" gameplay reveal in August 2026.

GTA 6 slipped twice. The original 2025 window from Trailer 1 became a firm May 26, 2026 date, which then moved roughly six months to November 19, 2026. Rockstar apologised that the first delay was "later than you expected" and has not given a detailed reason beyond wanting the extra development time.

Rockstar has not announced an online or multiplayer component for GTA 6. The official listing covers single-player only. Given GTA Online’s history, an online mode is widely expected, but nothing has been confirmed.

Digital pre-loading is reported to begin on November 12, 2026, one week before launch. This has not been confirmed on Rockstar’s own channels, so confirm with your platform store closer to the date.

ESRB has rated GTA 6 Mature 17+, with descriptors for blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, use of drugs and alcohol, and in-game purchases.

GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar marks PlayStation 5 as the "Plays Best On" platform. There is no PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2 or cloud version announced.

Not at launch, and Rockstar has not announced a PC version at all. On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported — citing four sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans — that a PC release is planned for the first quarter of 2027. Rockstar has not commented, so treat the PC window as unconfirmed.

The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 in the US, with UK pricing around £69.99 and £89.99. That makes the standard version roughly $10 above the typical AAA price.

Every pre-order placed before November 20, 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack, which carries benefits tied to the Vice City era. Digital pre-orders also include a free month of GTA+.

No. Physical copies on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are code-in-box — the case contains a download code rather than a disc. If a disc matters to you, no edition provides one.

Not for the game. There is no Special or Collector’s Edition of GTA 6 itself — only Standard and Ultimate. The $399.99 "Vice City Collection" is a merchandise box and does not include a copy of the game.

There are two playable protagonists: Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Lucia is the first female protagonist in a mainline Grand Theft Auto. Jason is an Army veteran working for local drug runners in the Leonida Keys. Rockstar frames them as a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style pair.

In the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. The main city is a modern-day Vice City, inspired by Miami and returning for the first time since Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2002. Six regions are named: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.

Rockstar has never published a map size, and no official world map exists. Fan reconstructions and leaks suggest the state is roughly twice the size of the GTA 5 map, but those figures are unofficial and should be treated as estimates.

Six are confirmed as of October 8, 2026: Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics. Rockstar says more are coming and has hinted at Classic Rock, Modern Hip-Hop, Dance, Eighties, Electronic, Blues, Ballads and Talk Radio. The final count is unconfirmed.

Yes. Headphones and earbuds let you keep music playing after leaving a vehicle — a first for the series, which previously cut the radio at the car door. GTA 6 also adds on-demand podcasts you can start while walking or driving.

The two protagonists share one bank account and one arsenal. The partner you are not controlling fights alongside you rather than standing idle, and some missions let you choose whether to drive or shoot while your partner takes the other role.

Focus is a meter shown in the top-left of the HUD. Spending it slows time for finishing moves and highlights enemy weak zones. It can also reveal nearby objects and useful details, and makes it easier to stay out of the police’s path.
