The darkest side of the sunniest place in America. Six regions are officially named. Tap any one to see what Rockstar has actually
shown.
Where is GTA 6 set?
GTA 6 is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida, with a modern-day
Vice City as its main city.
Six regions are confirmed: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and
Mount Kalaga National Park.
Vice City is inspired by Miami and returns for the first time since Grand Theft Auto: Vice
City in 2002. Rockstar has not published an official world map or any map size
figure.

This is a simplified diagram, not an official map. Rockstar has not released an official world map. Region names come from official descriptions; their relative positions are community reconstruction.
Vice City
Confirmed
Metropolis
The neon heart of the state and the series’ first return since 2002.
A modern-day take on Miami and the main city of the game. Dense high-rise blocks, beachfront strips, suburban sprawl and the nightlife that built the Vice City name.

Island chain
Where the game begins — a tropical island chain at the southern tip.
Rockstar’s Rob Nelson has said the game "starts way down here in the Keys" for its opening stretch. Jason lives and works here, running errands for local drug runners.

Wetlands
Everglades-style wetlands threaded with airboat channels.
A sprawling swamp modelled on the Florida Everglades. Airboats are a dedicated vehicle class built for this region, and trailer footage shows alligators in the waterways.

Confirmed
Gulf-coast port town
Working-class docks, warehouses and gritty bars — prime heist territory.
A gulf-coast port town with a very different texture to Vice City: industrial waterfront, freight, and the kind of bars where a crew gets put together.

Ambrosia
Confirmed
Inland heartland
Highway-stop country in the centre of the state.
Inland Leonida — diners, gas stations, billboards and long straight roads. Descriptions vary between highway-stop heartland and a more industrial, biker-leaning character.

Mount Kalaga National Park
Confirmed
National park
Lush mountain wilderness on the northern fringes of Leonida.
Rockstar places this park on the northern edge of the state, with hunting, fishing and off-road trails — plus, in Rockstar’s own framing, hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals.

How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar has never published a map size. Fan reconstructions and one leak put
the state at roughly twice the GTA 5 landmass, but no official figure exists and Rockstar has
not released a world map either. Treat every size comparison you see as an estimate.
Two further things are commonly repeated as fact but are not confirmed: the county names
circulating from leaks (Vice-Dale, Leonard, Kelly, Ambrosia, Mariana and Lummox), and the
exact distances between regions. Rockstar has named the regions but not said how far apart
they sit.
What is confirmed about structure: Rockstar's Rob Nelson has said the game "starts way
down here in the Keys" for its first stretch, which places your opening hours in the
Leonida Keys rather than Vice City itself.
